Are UK household being over-charged for energy?David Cameron Conservative leader is concerned UK families and households are being charged too much for utilities. In a bold move the conservative opposition is taking on a role more akin to that of a party in government by asking the Office of Fair Trading to investigate the rise in charges for gas, electricty and heating fuels.
The Conservative party leader is concerned that UK households are getting a poor deal and that the Labour government and the chancellor Gordon Brown are failing to address these concerns. It is becoming increasingly obvious more and more families are finding it harder to make ends meet. Figures suggest that the average gas bills have increased by 71% since 1997, electricty has seen similar price increases over this period and council tax has also risen by around 70%. With other rises in taxation and mortgage repayments the total increased cost of living since 1997 also looks to have surpassed the 70% figure....Whilst at the other end of the spectrum wages have no way near kept pace |
